Susan B Anthony on Head in the Clouds Mohair Silk Lace
COLORWAY
NEW - Released for the Winter 2025 ROC Love collection; a color series inspired by my home city Rochester, NY.
Susan B. Anthony was named in honor of Rochester’s most well-loved historical figure, an American social reformer, abolitionist, and women's rights activist who played a pivotal role in the women's suffrage movement.
This striking variegated and speckled yarn colorway pays tribute to her legacy, with a regal purple base symbolizing the fight for voting rights. Flecks of bold red weave through the skein, honoring the iconic red shawl she donned at suffrage conventions, congressional sessions, and public speeches—an unmistakable symbol that made her instantly recognizable to both supporters and reporters. Deep black speckles complete the colorway, a nod to the simple black dresses she was known to wear as she tirelessly campaigned for equality. Just as Anthony wove together passion, resilience, and activism to change history, this yarn blends hues that tell the story of her unwavering dedication to justice and women’s rights.
Head in the Clouds
Single ply lace weight
70% Superkid Mohair 30% Silk
~459 yards / 50g
Superkid mohair is the most luxurious and sought-after type of mohair yarn. It is made from the first shearing of young Angora goats at about six months old. Ideal for lightweight shawls and garments, often held together with another yarn to create a fabric with a cozy delicate halo.
CARE INSTRUCTIONS
Hand wash in cool water using a wool safe detergent such as Eucalan. It is normal for some color to bleed from hand dyed yarns when washed for the first time; cold water will help to prevent bleeding. Always test when combining very saturated colors, especially red with lighter colors.
FROM THE STUDIO
Each skein will vary in saturation and speckling, even if they are from the same dye batch. This is what makes hand dyed yarn so unique and special. If creating a project requiring multiple skeins of the same color, always rotate your skeins every few rows for a seamless blend of color.
All yarn is dyed by hand in a smoke free & pet friendly studio.
