What is sample knitting?

Sample knitting (or crochet) is making a finished piece for the shop that will be used in photos, booth displays, and as a working model to help promote the yarns we sell. All of the yarn and materials including the pattern will be provided to you. Once complete, the finished item is returned back to the shop for Meg to keep. 

The best part, this is a paid opportunity!

Who you are:

  • A detail-oriented, proficient, and advanced knitter or crocheter

  • Able to work within deadlines

  • A great communicator, comfortable with staying in touch

  • Friendly, collaborative

  • Loves rustic wool and small-batch farm yarns

  • A US resident with a US mailing address

Requirements:

  • Must have a US mailing address

  • Expected to stay in touch & provide important updates via email especially if an issue arises either with the pattern or your ability to complete the commission on time

  • Return the finished sample along with all remaining unused materials to Megs & Co. All shipping costs are covered by Meg.

  • Return a fully finished sample with all ends woven in, seamed, washed and blocked.

  • Provide project notes including your gauge, needle or hook size used, calculated yardage for each color, and relevant pattern feedback including modifications etc.  

  • Have PayPal or Venmo to receive compensation

Images/social media:

  • Taking and sharing progress and/or finished object  photos is always appreciated and I do hope that you take and share lots, but it is not a requirement of this commission.

Compensation:

This is a paid opportunity! Compensation varies based on the complexity of the pattern, but most sample commissions start at $0.20 / yard. Final payment will be calculated by weighing the finished piece once returned to Meg. Options for yarn credit for additional compensation are available.

Compensation will be sent electronically via Paypal or Venmo. If you do not use PayPal or Venmo, compensation will be paid in yarn credit.

Previous experience working with Megs & Co yarns a plus.
