Yarn Undyded NMER4H0925 - Fingering Weight Non Superwash Extrafine (19.5 micron) Merino Wool Yarn 5 x 100gm Pack
Composition: Non superwash extrafine 100% Merino yarn. (19.5 microns)
Metric Count: 4/16Nm
Yarn Weight: Sock/Fingering weight, 4 ply construction
Meterage: Approx. 400m (437 yards) per 100g hank
Origin: Australia
Description:
A yarn that is as close to its natural origins as possible. No superwash treatment, just a wash to remove the grease and dirt from the fleece then combed for spinning. A great choice for those looking for a luxurious, non superwash, no nylon yarn.
The main factor determining the quality of merino wool is its softness which depends upon the fineness of the fibres. We use extrafine merino (19.5 microns) which is some of the finest commercially available for hand dyers. This results in a supersoft yarn that feels gentle against the skin.
When dyeing untreated yarns, be careful to avoid sudden temperature changes and do not agitate. Raise and lower the temperature of your wool only gradually and agitate as little as possible. Garments made from these yarns should be washed in cool or room temperature water with minimal agitation (it is agitation and heat that causes wool to felt).
5 x 100gm hank = 500gm total
Suggested Needle/Hook Sizes and Gauge:
Needle Size: 2.5 - 4mm needles and C-G Hook
Gauge (stocking stitch): 28sts x 36 rows over 10cm/4 inches on 3.25mm (US 3) needles
