A Flurry of Fiber Events are in the Forecast.
After a two year hiatus, the Fiber Flurry returns to in-person this Saturday, April 30th, in Wyoming, NY. The Fiber Flurry is a small fiber festival hosted by the Arts Council for Wyoming County. There is still time to sign-up for one of the many workshops hosted by some of the areas most renowned makers including spinning, felting, and knitting classes. Plan for lunch at the Wyoming Inn for a full day of relaxing fun with friends.
Visit the Fiber Flurry event page on Facebook for more information.
I will be vending all day from 10 AM – 4 PM at the Wyoming Inn. Please use this address for your GPS directions: 1 S Academy St, Wyoming, NY 14591
The Inn is the central location. Vendors will be at the Inn as well as across the street at Church on the Green. The Fleece sale will be at the church next door to the Inn, and classes and panel discussions are in the building on the other side of that. Don't worry there will be plenty of signs to direct you and everything is easily walkable.
Meet Ellis
From sheep to skein, Ellis is 100% made in New York.
This light fingering / lace weight yarn is a blend of Rambouillet and Finn wool produced by small farms in NYS. The yarn was spun at Battenkill Fibers in Greenwich, NY, and hand dyed by me in Fairport, NY. The result is a delightfully farmie yarn with a wonderful balance of tooth and softness. Not only does this yarn directly support our local fiber industry while significantly reducing our global impact and carbon footprint, the attention to detail that the small scale farms and mill are able to provide ensures a premium quality yarn that is one of a kind. The yarn is lofty and the crimp is well-balanced, creating crisp stitch definition in your knitted fabrics. The shape of your garments will be maintained for years to come without sacrificing softness.
I will be debuting this 16 color collection at the Fiber Flurry on Saturday with a shop update for online purchases planned for next week.
This Saturday is Local Yarn Store Day!
As you plan your venture to the Fiber Flurry, make sure to include a few local yarn store stops along your way! I am collaborating with a few stores this weekend across New York State. I sent this beautifully curated collection of our brand new Organic Merino Sport yarn that includes a limited edition custom colorway I created just for LYS Day 2022 to Rabbit Row Yarn & Haberdashery in Corning, NY.
The shop is the only sustainably-sourced needle and fiber craft product shop in the region with a focus on minimally processed products that are sourced from US companies, farms, fiber mills, and dyers. It is a must stop on your LYS Day tour and one of four stores taking part in the Twin Tiers Yarn Crawl.
Visit their event page on Facebook for all the details on how to participate.
Our exclusive 2022 LYS Day Colorway will also be available at Lift Bridge Yarns in Fairport, NY and at Little Button Craft in Rochester, NY.
Not in NY? Click the button below for our full list of retailers. Don’t see your store? Let your local LYS owner now! Word of mouth goes a long way to help support small makers like me.
